ABOUT
A lot of information on (military) aircraft has been published over the past decades. A fraction of these publications deal with aerial reconnaissance. Almost no information is available on the photographic and related equipment that was used for aerial reconnaissance.
The articles and videos on this website highlight some of these technologies and we hope you find them interesting.........

The photographic equipment that was used during the "cold war" era by the various armed forces differs very much from the one that most people are familiar with. Not only were these aerial cameras more robust and much larger (in order to accommodate the large film format) but also the technologies applied were much different. The inventions used to reach specific goals (e.g. day or night reconnaissance, high or low altitude reconnaissance, aerial mapping) were plentiful considering the number of patent applications that were filed during this period.
From large format (9" x 9") to small format (2.25" x 2.25")
